CASTE: HUMILIATION AND DISCRIMINATION

Caste is a system of discrimination and humiliation. Caste doesn't have any model but many social scientists tried their best to model it as homo hierarchies (Domount), discrete continuous process (Dipankar) and other would tell it is a four varna system. There are number way to illustrate it, but for me it is caste is living thing, it accommodates, integrate, assimilate with the different way of experience that all segment of people experiecne. However, the flock of women, dalit, tribe, gay, lesibian, transgender, bi-sexual would be experience lots of things in their life. Caste is really a humiliating and discrimination system which does not allow the rational, scientific knowledge to come into play. The Indian today also hold the playcard of caste in all animist believe, let it be a religious belief, cultural activities, political fields. The caste has become some where down the line also a vote bank, a mobilisation factor in election politics. The Castes play everyday life of individual both front stage and back stage of individual and group life as Goffman would argue. The caste has so intrinsic that it squeeze to all sphere of life and play out in different forms of experience in terms of humiliation, discrimination and others. For example what happen in Jharkhand a boy, age 23 who died recently because sharing a pics which contains meet (none know that is beef) in whatsapp messenger. The people who oppose to beef put a straight forward that it is beef pics and the boy was arrested by police and brutally beaten up at premises of arrestation, police station, in jail and during inquiry and later the innocent boy dies who was a single child of parents who hope to grow, putting lots of hope on boy that one day dream will come true and we will live life as other live meaningfully. That doesn't happen. In this context, what i feel is caste and hindutva ideology is always provok to; i am not telling that hindutva ideology is wrong but hindutva fundamentalist or extremist is wrong. They should consider the boy as a child, human, as son; they should beat up for silly reason rather make more proper investigation and look the matter clearly and act upon it. I am shocked and sorry to tell. Today I don't think so we are modern, because we don't have the rational thinking, we become inhuman, we believe religion which alway threaten to each other in the name, and we fortet to realize that we are human, son, daughter, wife, husband and neibhbourhood. Therefore, I request, be rational, forget the animist thinking, think scientific and systematic way what is good and what is bad. Forget the caste, religion and superstition and live the life as enlighten human being.

CASTE AND CASTE PRACTICE IN CONTEMPORARY MODERN TIMES

I was consciously or unconsciously aware of the happening in twentieth century so called 'modern times'. We belong to same status, position and power but caste is substantive form which intertwined with so many things. It happens with intellectual who teach 'caste' so called enlighten academia, with modernity if you call the so called smart and delegated members of society. We are so conscious about 'caste' like that of dessert soon after the meal. It remain consistence with inborn quality; however we live in city or metro city; the particular ideology and the very nature of discrimination, exclusion and inclusion always prevails. But I am fail to understand why, how and when; because it always a reproduction of caste that we live and practice. It is a whole system of Erving Goffman concept of impression management where he talks about the region which front and back. We never know; apparently the very discourse of modernity we put up many mask in public life which most external to others. We represent the self in a superficial way, not real, just a duty to satisfy the audience and we play role. And in back region which is very clear and authentic; a true self that we are in a particular. If I refer to W.I Thomas who gives the very concepts of 'definition of situation' and William Shakespeare who devout to understand the role that we play in everyday life; as he mention in his quotes "all the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exists and their entrances and one man in this time plays many parts." To further the argument 'caste and caste practice in 21st century so called where we live in modern, highly digitized, full democratic and having so many rules to protect, defense and perform the performance of everyday life of self without discriminating, excluding and including. ....this has to be thought and written more... so ..it is not complete thought of caste and caste practice ...ok

A BRIEF NOTE ON SOCIOLOGICAL THEORIES

Phenomenology

The term is derived from Greek word 'phainomenon' which mean 'appear' and 'logos' mean 'to study'. The phenomenology is a philosophical study of structure and consciousness which derived its essence from philosophy. The early year Edmund Husserl used this term, and this term doesn't hold clear cut evidence or proof that many can talk about. It lacks its thematic focus and it is not a doctrine or philosophical school rather it is just a style of thoughts or a methods. Therefore anybody can openly with their experience tell different ways and it result different things to different people. For Husserl it is a systematic study of structure and consciousness, and the phenomena that appear in acts of consciousness.

Ethnomethodology

The Ethnomethodology is a method of sociological analysis that examines how individuals use everyday conversation to construct a common-sense view of the world.
